C.Y.O. Summer Camp Staff

Our staff include university and secondary school students who have been selected for their sound values, good judgement and leadership abilities. These experienced individuals are committed to ensuring all campers enjoy their time at camp. All staff are trained in First Aid and complete a criminal reference check to ensure that all campers have a safe and enjoyable time while in our care.

C.I.T. COUNSELLOR IN TRAINING

Counsellor in training (C.I.T.) session opens on January 1st, 2024.

 

JUNIOR C.I.T. PROGRAM

If your child is currently in Grade 8 (2023/2024 school year), they are eligible for our JUNIOR C.I.T. Program. This program is offered for 6 weeks, the cost is $150. During the first week of the program, they will develop leadership skills, team building & bonding, review camp policies & procedures, all while participating in our camp activities (archery, boating, swimming etc.). During the second week, they will shadow a counsellor with a group of children aged 4 – 6 years old. They will assist with supervision, participate in activities with the campers and enhance their leadership skills. They will participate in debrief sessions, reflections and evaluations from the C.I.T. Program Coordinator throughout the entire 6 week block.

SENIOR C.I.T. PROGRAM

If your child is currently in Grade 9 (2023/2024 school year), they are eligible for our SENIOR C.I.T. Program. This program is offered for 6 weeks; July 8th to August 16th the cost is $150. During the first week of the program, they will develop leadership skills, team building & bonding, review camp policies & procedures, all while participating in our camp activities. Over the duration of the summer, they will do a combination of the following:

Shadow a counsellor with a group of children aged 4 – 6 years old. They will assist with supervision, participate in activities with the campers and enhance their leadership skills.

Shadow a one to one counsellor, where they will assist a child with special needs in participating in all camp activities. This may include, but is not limited to feeding, changing, different communication styles etc.

Develop and implement games & activities to the camp program.

Shadow a support/program staff and assist with implementing new program ideas.

Senior C.I.T.’s will participate in debrief sessions, reflections and evaluations from the C.I.T. Program Coordinator throughout the entire program.
