Celebrating 50 Years!

Camp Marydale.JPG

The Catholic Youth Organization’s Day Camp Program was initiated as an experimental project in 1963.  It came as a response to numerous requests from parents in the community.  The results of the first camping season were very encouraging, and showed great potential for the day camp program –Camp Marydale.  Camp Marydale’s site had evolved over the years into a spacious and very well facilitated setting in Puslinch, ON.

During the spring of 2003, it was decided that Camp Marydale needed numerous upgrades to its site; thus, building a brand new site would be more beneficial than updating the current one.  The original property was sold and for the summers of 2004 and 2005, Camp Marydale was run at Coronation Arena and Pool in Hamilton, ON.  In the spring of 2006, it was realized that running camp at Coronation and the price of transportation was too great to continue.  Therefore, it was decided that Camp Marydale should go back to its’ roots, serving those most needy in the inner city and operated for several summers at different schools around the City of Hamilton, while a fundraising campaign began to build a new, permanent site.

In the summer of 2012, we were proud to begin operating Camp Marydale at our new outdoor wilderness, fully accessible, barrier-free, outdoor recreational facility – Marydale Park!
